At First Presbyterian Church, Christ’s legacy calls us to “renew minds and redeem lives with the steadfast love of Jesus Christ.”
We demonstrate this not only in the way we worship, grow and serve in his name, but also in the way we work to transform our city, merge the biblical with the social Gospel, show spontaneous compassion to others, devote ourselves to service within this community and beyond our borders, and equip families to bond together in Christ. We invite you to join us as we imagine life differently and explore together the legacy of Christ’s steadfast love.
Our Mission
Renewing minds and redeeming lives with the steadfast love of Jesus Christ.
Our Values
City Transformation
Demonstrated by an unwavering commitment to redeeming the heart of the city for Jesus Christ. As a downtown church near the historic Alamo Mission, FPC dedicates its resources as an outpost for the Kingdom of God to influence the culture, commerce and community of San Antonio.
Gospel Integration
Demonstrated by the merging of the biblical with the social. Most churches tend to be Word-centered or a social justice oriented. FPC believes God’s desire for the church is to maintain both a high view of Scripture and a heart for the poor.
Spontaneous Compassion
Demonstrated by the incredible and natural outpouring of love for others. Those who have experienced profound loss find themselves surrounded by incarnational expressions of Christ’s mercy and peace.
Gracious Dedication
Demonstrated by the selfless devotion of leadership within the church. A spirit of serving God with our very best pervades FPC from excellence in worship and music to ingenuity in solving complex social problems.
Hands-on Mission
Demonstrated by the philosophy that lives are changed by experiential learning. Just as the disciples matured by daily following Jesus, all of life is a classroom for the spiritual life.
Family Education
Demonstrated by the reality that family is God’s primary vehicle for discipleship. The church exists to equip parents and children, youth and singles to create stronger bonds of friendship through study, prayer and fellowship.
