Our tween program is designed for the unique age group of 5th graders. The class begins with “hang out” time to talk with friends, old and new, while having snacks and playing games in the newly designed tween classroom. A gifted team of teachers interactively present the Bible lessons to engage students in seeing God’s work in a new light and equip them with a biblical world view. Special events and mission outreach opportunities are offered throughout the year.

We are delighted and blessed to be one to the few churches ministering to children with special needs and their families. We believe that every child is created in God’s image and has a place in church. This ministry embraces children with special needs and provides a welcoming place for them to attend Sunday morning activities, where they hear God’s Word and enjoy fellowship. Each JOY student has a special “shepherd” who works one-on-one with them.

We will teach hands-on projects with proper tool handling and safety concerns, all while encouraging leadership and team/group working skills. Ceramics, weaving, carpentry, tile and glass work, painting, furniture reworking, drums, stone working and watercolor painting are a few of the projects the class has completed. We weave together biblical lessons from the Sunday sermon series while working on art projects. Master’s Hands is a special place where faith and life intersect.

This program is part of First Presbyterian’s ministry to young children and their families. Four classes are available: toddlers, young 2s, older 2s and 3s. The teacher/child ratio is 1:4 for all the younger children and 1:5 for the 3s. Children hear a Bible story, sing songs, pray, do a creative art project, play outdoors and enjoy learning centers with dramatic play, blocks, manipulative toys and large motor activities. Loving, nurturing teachers strive to create a safe and positive environment for the preschoolers to learn about the Lord Jesus.
