KEYS Senior Adults welcome author Sichan Siv Friday, October 3, 11 a.m. Siv was nominated by George W. Bush in 2001 and confirmed by the Senate as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. He also wrote Golden Bones, a book about the extraordinary journey from hell in Cambodia to a new life in America. Would you like to have a discount on your auto insurance? Sign up for the AARP Defensive Driving Class October 21–22. This is a refresher course designed for drivers 50 years and older.  You will learn all the new defensive driving techniques and proper use of safety equipment and receive a certificate that is good for three years that can be used to apply for a reduction on car insurance.  Join us Tuesday and Wednesday, October 21 and 22, 9 a.m.–noon, Room 302. Taught by B.J. Laymon, AARP instructor. Class does not offer ticket dismissal. Bring your valid Texas driver’s license. Per person fee is $10. Make checks payable to AARP. Annual Flu Shot Clinic Sunday, October 26, 8 a.m.–1 p.m., in the Geneva Room. No charge for flu and pneumonia shots if you have Medicare Part B or selected insurance coverage (includes Humana, Secure Horizons, Community First). If not covered, costs are: flu—$25/person, pneumonia—$47.99, Tetanus: Td—$30.00, Tdap—$55. Children under the age of 14 need a prescription from their doctor. Visit the LBJ Ranch Friday, November 7 with KEYS Senior Adults. Tour the LBJ Ranch (the Western White House while Lyndon Baines Johnson was President). See a working ranch, the home where Johnson was born, the cemetery where he, Lady Byrd and other family members are buried and visit the office where Johnson and his aides conducted the business of the nation while at the ranch. Then visit the Sauer-Beckmann farm with its barns, animals, smokehouse, Victorian style house, garden, and log house.  Operated by the Texas Parks and Wildlife, the park features costumed interpreters carrying out the day-to-day activities of a turn-of-the-century Texas-German farm family. Lunch will be in Johnson City at the Silver K Café. Depart 8 a.m. Return 5 p.m. Cost $60.
