The Congregational Care Ministry works within our strategy to SERVE by providing compassionate, confidential care to those who experience a wide diversity of human needs. The ministry responds with spontaneous compassion to real-life needs that express the steadfast grace and love of Jesus Christ through a variety of different ministries, all supported by pastoral staff.

Stephen Ministry

First Presbyterian Church has recently enrolled in the Stephen Ministry, a system that trains and organizes laypeople to do caring ministry. Ray Torres, Sue Steed, Flo Creighton and Scott Simpson will attend an intensive seven-day Leader’s Training Course in Dallas July 13–19 and will then return to train some of our members to be Stephen Ministers and serve our church family. If you would like to know more about Stephen Ministry, contact the Rev. Scott Simpson at 226-0216 ext. 212, or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Notifying the Church in a Time of Need

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPPA) for privacy make it more complicated for congregations to inquire of  some hospitals regarding members who are patients.  The Pastoral Staff of First Presbyterian wants to be available to members and their loved ones at such times.

To notify the church of hospitalizations and/or other pastoral care needs, please contact Scott Simpson, Associate Pastor for Congregational Care, at 210.226.0216, ext. 212( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ).

If there is need of a pastor in the event of an emergency that cannot wait until 8:30 a.m. the next morning, please call 210.226.0216, ext. 398.
