The mission of First Presbyterian Church is to renew minds and redeem lives with the steadfast love of Jesus Christ. That mission calls each member to worship regularly, grow intentionally and serve generously. A critical measure of merit for determining mission success is that we have "knees for prayer." For Jesus, prayer with God was as essential as breathing in the air he needed for bodily survival. Prayer enabled Jesus to discern God's will for his life and find comfort and support amidst his struggles against the spiritual apathy, hypocrisy and injustice of his day.
In response to God’s amazing love, First Presbyterian Church aspires to be a community where a passion for prayer is a regular part of our life together. We believe in the power of prayer to renew minds and redeem lives.
Accordingly, we offer opportunities for you to submit both public and confidential prayer requests—and to receive public requests that need your prayers—through dedicated telephone lines (described in the Intercessory Prayer Guide noted below). A small number of trained prayer intercessors will assist the pastors in praying for the confidential requests. If you are interested in becoming a prayer intercessor, contact Chuck Beatty, Prayer Ministry Chair, at 210.826.3386 (or
